the next thing i did was create the fold of the jacket, i could have just made it using a series of flat polygons but i felt that a fully 3d object would suit much character better.

I started by making a cube into a rectangle with several subdivisions. I made it editable and moved the points into place. The onject looked too round at first and the points which needed to be more abrupt were smooth, so i used the knife tool and the loop cut option to make them more pointy and realistic.
